Rumors are now that Apple is working on a high-priced VR headset as their first forray in the mixed reality wearables. I'm SUPER excited by this - it's the first hardware step toward what I think will be the next major way in which we interact with computing devices (big rectangular monitors -> small rectangular phones -> wearable AR glasses/contacts.)
Reading the answers above reminded me of one of the greatest Quora Q&As ever: What do all the controls in an airplane cockpit do? "It's really complicted and would take a while to explain...but since you asked..."
